Where to go with children in Russia: amusement parks, museums and resorts
The taste of Sochi. Where to taste the freshest fish, local cheeses and Adjarian khachapuri, while enjoying the view of the Black Sea. A selection of restaurants for every budget.
Where to go on a family vacation in the Central Region
You can travel to the Central region of Russia with children of different ages. There are historical attractions, museums, theme parks and other entertainment options.
The easiest and most affordable trips around the region are weekend tours. Trips are short and intense, so neither adults nor children have time to get tired and bored.
We tell you about the most popular places in Central Russia.
Nikola Lenivets Art Park (Kaluga Region)
Dozens of unusual installations are located on the vast territory: the 22-meter Beaubourg, which simultaneously refers to Pushkin's head in a field and the Pompidou Center in Paris, the Lazy Ziggurat made of wooden beams, art houses of various shapes and other objects. They can be touched, and some are even allowed to climb.
Things to do with children:
- explore the park by bike (available for rent on site);
- have a picnic with farm produce from local cafes;
- spend the night in a tent or a wooden house.
Tip: come in the summer to visit the Archstoyanie festival with master classes and performances. In 2025, the events will be held from July 25 to July 27.
Kudykina Gora (Lipetsk region)
This is not a joke, but a real amusement park with a wooden fortress, a safari park and a fire-breathing Snake Gorynych. What children will like:
- workshops in the forge and pottery workshop — you can make souvenirs with your own hands and take them home;
- swimming in a clean pond with a sandy shore — the park administration even allows such entertainment;
- animal feeding in aviaries — there is an opportunity to get as close as possible to llamas, ostriches, ponies and other inhabitants of the safari park.
But the most interesting sight on Kudykina Mountain is the fiery breath of the Serpent Gorynych. In order not to miss how flames burst out of three heads, check the schedule of the action.
The amusement park is very large. We recommend that you and your family go here for two days and spend the night at a campsite or guest house.
Baba Yaga's domain (Yaroslavl region)
In a hut on chicken legs in the village of Kukoboy, there lives not an evil witch, but a kind fairy-tale grandmother. She arranges fun games and treats pies.
How this place will captivate children:
- theatrical performances with Leshy and Toptygin;
- entertaining guided tours of Baba Yaga's domain;
- Fairy Tale Museum, where Marya the artist tells folk tales and legends;
- tea party with branded kukoboy pies.
In front of Baba Yaga's house, try to pronounce the magic words: "Hut, hut, stand in the old way, as your mother put it: back to the forest, front to me!". Then you will definitely be able to disenchant the entrance and get into the old lady's dwelling.
While the kids will travel through the fabulous world, adults can visit the holy spring and the Church of the Savior Not Made with Hands, built in 1912.
Where to go with children to the seaside
The South of Russia is an ideal destination for a summer family vacation. There is everything here: warm seas, water parks, ethnic parks, workshops and many other activities for children and adults.
Where exactly to go on vacation with children in the south? Choose between the Black Sea coast with its developed infrastructure or the more peaceful Sea of Azov. Both children and parents will like any option.
It is best to come to the Russian south with small travelers in May-June or September. During these months, the air temperature is not too high — about +25 °C, there is no sweltering heat.
Be sure to bring sunscreen and hats with you. It is also better to grab a first-aid kit with a basic set: patches, antipyretics, remedies for sunburn and stomach problems.
Black Sea coast
The Black Sea resorts have a well-developed infrastructure, there are many places to relax with children of all ages. Let's tell you more about Sochi and Anapa.
Sochi
Russia's largest resort offers entertainment for every taste:
- Sochi Park. An analog of Disneyland with attractions based on Russian fairy tales: for example, "The Firebird" and "Snake Gorynych". Sochi Park also offers children access to a climbing wall, a laboratory where fascinating experiments are conducted, a circus, a cinema, street and puppet shows, a zoo, and even a dolphin show;
- Skypark. A place for the bravest. Here you can fly a trolley over the gorge at a speed of 60 km/h, look at the surroundings from an extreme height, walk along the 439-meter SkyBridge suspension bridge or jump from the country's highest bungee pad;
- Dolphinarium and aquarium. To explore the diversity of marine life, visit the Riviera Dolphinarium and Sochi Discovery World Aquarium. At the Riviera, you can have a lot of fun and admire the dolphin, white whale and sea lion shows. And at Sochi Discovery World, take a closer look at all the amazing inhabitants of the Black Sea;
- Adler beaches. All of them are well-maintained. The entrance to the water is shallow, so these places are ideal for bathing babies.

Where to go with the kids:

This is a hotel with a state-of-the-art design, in which a convenient location and a high level of service are combined with affordable prices. To accommodate the whole family, choose a room with adjoining rooms.
The Sea of Azov
Against the background of the Black Sea coast, the Sea of Azov seems more modest. There is less luxury service and less developed infrastructure, and instead of mountains and lush greenery, there is a steppe blown by the winds. But the water warms up faster, there are almost no strong storms. And even in high season, there are relatively few vacationers on the beaches of the Sea of Azov.
You can relax with children in Yeysk. This is a great option for the first time exploring the sea.
Advantages of Yeysk:
- Shallow beaches with sandy bottoms. The city itself and the nearby villages of Dolzhanskaya and Golubitskaya are ideal places for children to swim. But keep in mind that on most beaches you need to take everything you need with you: seats, towels, inflatable circles and armbands. There are no sun loungers or other facilities. The exception is the equipped beach in Golubitskaya with an aquapark and a dolphinarium;
- Kitesurfing and windsurfing schools. Suitable for children from 10 years old. You can attend classes at Molodezhny Beach all summer;
- Ataman Ethnopark. Immerse yourself in the history of the Cossacks with the whole family. Explore the huts with exhibits, a blacksmith shop, a school, and a bakery. Try to grind the grains yourself with flails. If you're traveling in the summer, try to catch festivals with folk games and horse shows.
Which city should I go to with my child
If you don't want to go to the seaside, and weekend tours seem too short for a full-fledged vacation, go to the major cities of Russia. Tourists are offered an incredible variety of family vacation options here. From historical museums to interactive exhibitions, from ancient fortresses to modern art objects— both children and adults will find places to their liking.
Tips for urban recreation:
- Buy single tickets for several museums and use city tourist maps. This way you can save a lot on your vacation;
- Choose hotels in the center. It is usually in the central part of the city that the main attractions and most interesting places are located — it is easier to get to them from nearby hotels;
- Alternate between active and cognitive recreation. So that no one gets tired or bored, combine trips to museums with active games or shows.
Where is the best place to go with a child in Russia to relax in an urban environment? We have prepared an overview of only a few megacities. But rest assured — any Russian city will surprise you with its diversity and hospitality.
Moscow
If your child has not seen the capital yet, start exploring it from the Kremlin and Red Square. Look at the Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell, the changing of the guard of honor, the play of flowers on the domes of St. Basil's Cathedral. And make a wish at kilometer zero — it will definitely come true.
To combine recreation with learning and "cultivation", take your child to the museum. There are a lot of them in Moscow:
- Interactive museum at the planetarium. The Moscow Planetarium is the oldest in Russia: It has been operating since 1929. Here, children and their parents can playfully learn a lot about space and planets, observe celestial bodies through a telescope, and experiment in a scientific laboratory. The planetarium also has a collection of meteorites from different parts of the Earth;
- Darwin Museum. Almost the entire animal world is located in this place: from samples of microorganisms to dinosaur bones. In the museum's interactive center, children are invited to become researchers and learn, for example, what the world looks like through the eyes of a mouse or how strong an elephant is;
- Art museums. If a child has been interested in art since childhood, he will be interested in the Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin Museum. They feature works by Russian and foreign masters from different eras.
If you are tired of the facilities and excursions, go for a walk in the fresh air. Visit the Moscow Zoo, Zaryadye, Gorky Park, VDNKh. There are many interesting things for children and adults in each of these places.
Where to live in the capital:
- Mercure Arbat Moscow. A boutique hotel located in the city center. It is convenient to get to the main attractions of the capital from here. The hotel itself has a restaurant and a fitness center, baby beds and bassinets are provided;
- ibis Moscow Bakhrushin Center. A more budget-friendly option. This hotel is not as close to the center as the previous one, but it is still convenient to get to any attractions from here. The hotel provides cots, a restaurant, a SPA and a bar.

Saint‑Petersburg
The cultural capital of Russia with its unique architecture, rich history, unusual museums and cozy city parks for children and their parents. There is entertainment for every taste, age and budget.
The Hermitage, the Russian Museum and the Kunstkamera are considered mandatory to visit during a trip to St. Petersburg. But trips to these places can be tedious, uninteresting, or — in the case of the Kunstkamera — even frightening for children. Therefore, we recommend that you first explain to young travelers what awaits them and decide together whether to go there or not.
It is definitely worth visiting the Grand Layout Russia show museum with children, the largest layout in the country. In this place, day turns to night, cars and trains move, and some figures can be "revived" by pressing special buttons.
The boys will surely be impressed by the legendary cruiser Aurora. He participated in the First World War, fired a salvo that began the storming of the Winter Palace in 1917, defended the city in 1941-1944. Today, Aurora is a museum with an exhibition dedicated to naval battles.
Teenagers will be interested in modern spaces. For example, "Floors", "Sevkabel port" and "Planetarium No. 1". These places feature unusual cafes and shops, themed festivals and exhibitions.
With children of any age, you can go to the Divo-Ostrov Park. There are attractions for the youngest, older children and very adult visitors. An adrenaline rush is guaranteed for everyone.
It would be a good decision to settle in the center so that you can easily get to all the entertainment. Our option:
- Novotel Saint Petersburg Center. It is located almost directly to Nevsky Prospekt. You can walk to the main museums and cathedrals, the Palace Square, and the Neva River. The chef of the restaurant offers a special menu for children. You can put a baby cot in the room, which is provided by the hotel.

What to do with children in Kazan:
- Visit the Kremlin. This is the business card of the city. The Kul Sharif Mosque, the leaning tower of Syuyumbike, the Annunciation Cathedral, the Palace Church and other historical buildings are located here;
- Take a ride on a river tram along the Kazanka River. This river divides Kazan into two parts. During the walk you will see the Kremlin on the left bank and the new districts on the right. Keep your phone with you at all times to capture the magnificent views that open from the river tram;
- Try a local dessert at the chak-chak Museum. Chak-chak is a culinary symbol of Tatarstan. These are fried pieces of dough, drizzled with local fragrant honey. In the chak-chak museum you will learn the history of Kazan, the peculiarities of folk life, and at the end of the tour you will enjoy a treat and tea;
- Spend time at Smile Park. It will be interesting for younger children to be in the "Giant's House" or the "Museum of Illusions". Teenagers will enjoy the quests more. Buy a single ticket and devote the whole day to diverse entertainment.
Yekaterinburg
There are plenty of activities for adults, toddlers, and teenagers in this city during their holidays. Entertainment centers, parks, attractions — Yekaterinburg has everything. Plus, an unusual combination of architecture from different centuries: from classic buildings of the 19th century to modern brutal skyscrapers.
Where to go with children in Yekaterinburg:

Vladivostok
It takes a long time to get here from most Russian regions, but the amazing nature and many places for active recreation attract tourists with children to Vladivostok all year round. This is a unique city with a unique flavor.
There are a lot of places in Vladivostok that are interesting for families with children. We're talking about the most popular ones:

How to organize a vacation with a child in Russia
- Choose a direction. Consider your own wishes and interests of children. If you plan a vacation in the summer, it is better to choose a place where you can spend a lot of time outdoors and get some fresh air. It can be too stuffy and dusty in big cities;
- Decide on the transport. Trains are convenient because you can take a comfortable lying position in them, read quietly and admire the views from the window. Cars for traveling with children are good when you don't have to travel too long distances: only in these cases will you not get tired and the impressions of traveling with your family will not be blurred. Airplanes are an ideal option for fast and comfortable travel from point A to point B, especially with very young children;
- Take everything you need with you. Put antiseptic, antipyretic, patches, and wet wipes in your suitcase or carry-on. Before leaving the house, check the availability of all necessary documents. If you are traveling with a baby, stock up on toys, food and diapers. For older children, take a tablet with movies or cartoons, books;
- Take care of your comfort and safety. Avoid moving too long and making too many transfers. Before going to a crowded place, tell the children about the rules of behavior and safety, explain where to contact if you have lost sight of your parents. Give your child a bracelet with your phone number if they don't have their own mobile yet. In a taxi to the airport or train station, check for child safety seats;
- Book your accommodation in advance. If you are traveling with toddlers, when booking, find out if the hotel provides cots and high chairs. Also, check in advance whether meals are included in the price, whether there is a children's menu, playgrounds and other entertainment for younger guests. Families with teenage children are offered connecting rooms in some hotels — take advantage of this offer. In order not to lose the choice of a hotel, book accommodation in Accor group hotels. Select the desired city, explore the available options and make a reservation online. We guarantee excellent service and only positive emotions.
